What is NMO?

Also known as Neuro-Muscular Optimalization

Since you might not already know what NMO actually is, we will give you a super quick rundown on what it is, how it works, why it works and of course how it is going to work for you. All you need to do is read on.

Neuro-Muscular Optimalization might sound a bit confusing and possibly a little scary if you don't know what it means, but let us assure you - It is completely safe!

Neuro stands for your Nervous system.
Muscular stands for the Muscle system.
And...
Optimalization, means we want to get those systems up and running as effectively as possible!

In other words, NMO is about Connection. You want the connection between your muscles and your nerves to be as good as humanly possible. There are plenty of benefits to that!
- as you will learn to see in the Why section.

Did you know?

Pain comes from the nervous system.
Nerves are like tiny roads all over your Body,
delivering messages to (or from) the Brain!​

How does it work?

The body is quite complex, so if you want to know it all, we would have to be here for a long time...
(Although, we strongly encourage you to deep dive into the topic of knowing yourself!)

​Instead, think of what you might already be familiar with:

  • Yoga
  • Meditation
  • Mindfullness
  • Resistance training
  • Stretching
  • Movement
  • Pain
  • Heat/cold
  • Touch

NMO is bringing these elements and more into one

​By learning to get into a specific mindset, and make different movements with the intent of raising the connection between your Mind, and your Body.
​This might raise questions like "Won't that mean I will get more Pain?"
​The answer is no. But for the first time, you might be able to see how bad, or hopefully how good condition you actually are. No more Filter. No Distractions. Only Truth.

​While that might seem scary at first, the Relief of Knowing is enough reduce Anxiety levels.
​- Instantly reducing Inner Stress and effectively reducing Pain as a result!

Why does it work?

Every Health enthusiast, whether it is in Fitness, Nutrition, Therapy or something entirely else,
- knows how important Movement and Activity is for you.

​But when is it enough? When is it too much? When is it too little?
​These are the questions that triggered the creation of NMO.

​When you are in Pain, the nerves in the area becomes excited (yeah, that's the technical term). When that happens, they send the signal further. More Pain = More signals. In other words, you want to slow it down.
​The current Healthcare system defaults to Painkillers and other medicament.

The problem with that, is that it doesn't do anything about your issue.
If anything, it makes it even more difficult for you to answer those previous questions.
All it does is to create a filter on how much you think you can (or how much Pain you believe you are in)
- and how much you actually can and how much Pain you are actually in.

Distractions in general are a massive contributor to the Delusion of Health.

Anything that brings the Focus on something other than yourself for too long, will eventually Overload you.
​The Danger is that all Distractions are noise. And the Modern World we are living in, is incredibly Loud.

Your Body only have a finite amount of ways to alert you.
So when Thoughts gets shut out, Sensations overheard, and the Body is otherwise ignored...

Then there is only one option left.
Turn up the Pain.


When Distracted, you only hear your Body if it is loud enough. Like talking to someone at a Festival. Good luck!
Essentially, you have a Communication problem, which is why NMO works.
- By improving the Connection.

​If you want to get better, then you have two options:
​Remove yourself from the noise, or fix the bad Connection.
​(Or option nr. 3: Both).

How can you begin?

There are actually several ways to do NMO, but we will show you a simple overview
after sharing how we learned to use it.

First of all, the main difference between a Physical Therapist and an Education Therapist is that an
Education Therapist strives to teach the client or patient not just what to do, but how and why.

We found that two people can do the exact same exercise, but get an entirely different outcome.
Just like to people can witness the very same situation, but React and Feel entirely different.

THINK!

We started experimenting with enhanced Patient Education and Neuromuscular training, which boosted the Compliance (willingness to do the exercises) and the results spoke for themselves,
with over 98% Success rate in regards to Significant Pain Reduction (or completely removal of Pain), and ROM (Range Of Motion, otherwise known as Mobility).

Unfortunately, since it was a small Clinical Experiment and the Journals are Protected by Privacy Laws,
we cannot share any Testimonials.

NMO for Beginners:
1. Get away from as much Noise as possible
​2. Focus on yourself by Thinking Inward.
​3. Make a single movement, while Thinking of the muscle you use for that exact movement.
​4. Experience the sensation, listen to your body.
​     - Pain... Tension... Tingling... Heat... Stretch... Fatigue... Vibrations... Other?...
​5. Relax and Breathe.
​6. Listen again.

For some people, this might seem a bit Abstract and Alternative,
but NMO is essentially Resistance Training with Mindfulness.

Many Bodybuilders are already very Adept at this without even knowing!
