Oh, the struggle!
I can't believe how hard it is to pick up the fight again. But it is...
Defeat after defeat.
I'm sure your track record isn't much better.
My story is different from yours, and yet, exactly the same:
I have always been skinny (don't hate me just yet). I could eat whatever I wanted, and no one would be able to tell by how I looked. As a woman, I'm sure this is the dream for many. As a man... I felt weak. Because I was.
When I was old enough (15), I could finally join a gym. I bought the Protein Powder, I went several times a week. The result? Burnout and Injury. This became my pattern. No pain, no gain, right? At 17, I was to join the Military to become a Sergeant. Despite my attempts to prepare, I barely got through the qualification strength tests.
I might have managed, but my problem still stood the same: When I tried to get bigger, I had to work out and eat differently. Then when I did, I became sick and had to quit, or got an injury (again). What was I doing wrong??? I couldn't figure it out!
Then after more than a decade of this, I finally found the answer!!!
To be fair, I quit my job as a Flight Mechanic on F-16s, moved to a different country and became a Physical Therapist in order to do so..
After over a decade of working out different ways, going through tons of different workout programs. After spending x amount of money on loads of protein powders, bars, gainers and other supplements. After several injuries, tendinitis, inflammation and more, I finally found the one thing I was doing wrong:
I pushed too hard.
It seems so simple now, but you must understand, everywhere I looked it was the go hard or go home mentality. Just like the millions of articles screaming at you with "Lose x amount of weight in JUST 2 weeks!" Not to mention the thousands of diets that are being developed at all times...
When I finally understood that I had to work with the body, and stop pushing so damn hard against it, things finally started to change.
For the first time ever, I could actually stay consistent. Not only that, but I didn't feel like throwing up at the end of a workout. My meals didn't have to be PERFECT, they just needed to be better.
All this, and more, came from the simple phrase that changed my entire perspective for health, fitness and nutrition:
"You have time."

I have been to many physiotherapists over the past 10 years, as I have chronic back pain and chronic headaches. André's course has been the most effective course in terms of relieving the pain.
